heggen haus, rebrand
Fraser Park Restaurant is a local hole-in-the-wall diner that’s beloved by its patrons. After being featured on the Food Network program “You Gotta Eat Here”, they became more popular than ever.
If the restaurant has one icon, it’s the founder Anton, a gregarious chef who sings while cooking traditional dishes from his mother’s old cookbook.
My first design decision was to make Anton the focal point of the brand, and rename the restaurant to something a little more unique.
The final logo is a simplified yet recognizable portrait of Anton that sticks with warm, bold colours one would find in his dishes.
German typefaces can often appear too gothic or too sleek and modern. Korneuburg Slab was the perfect balance of traditional and friendly.
The current menu is simple, to the point, and gets the job done. This rebrand was a great opportunity to make it a little easier to read.
The new menu is clear, bold, and in a letter page format for increased legibility.
I wanted to make the menu itself something the owners could proudly hand to customers.
A simplified version of the logo to replace the existing window decal.
